Prior to joining the team, Shayla spent time working in student advocacy and the nonprofit sector. Recently finishing their undergraduate degree in Political Science, they bring a robust background in data-driven research and systems thinking.

With their strong roots in Alberta community organizing and social activism, Shayla has extensive experience in working with media, facilitation, public speaking, and communicating complex messages to diverse audiences. They have worked on projects for Oxfam Canada and The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa.
