Meet us on the dancefloor at Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s (ITK) signature social event of the year. 

Held annually at the National Arts Centre, Tapiriit offers guests a culinary journey of Inuit country food paired with performances by acclaimed Inuk musicians. 

Our task was to lead the event planning, branding and promotion to ensure the dancefloor was packed with ITK’s old friends and new prospective partners. 

We drew inspiration for the colours and motifs of the expanded event brand from the midnight sun. A natural phenomenon unique to only the most Northern and Southern places on Earth — including the Inuit homeland. This natural wonder, with its radiant golden hues and soft gradients, informed a colour palette designed to feel both warm and magical—capturing the energy and renewal that comes with endless daylight. We also introduced aura-like rings to symbolize fresh beginnings and a sense of connection. These design elements evoked the boundless opportunities and vitality inspired by the midnight sun, encouraging guests to shine brightly as they joined ITK’s celebration.

This year we had the opportunity to take over one of Ottawa’s most iconic digital displays: the Kipnes Lantern. We used this platform to showcase stunning photography from Tapiriit 2023’s sealskin photobooth, flexing our creativity with a dynamic animation.

We organized a shoot to capture photos and video of the animation on the Kipnes Lantern and then leveraged those as promotional material for the event across digital channels. 

The organic and paid promo resulted in tickets selling out weeks ahead of the event, allowing the project team to focus on finessing details to enhance the guest experience. 

On the day, the Emdash team was on-site to ensure everything ran smoothly before, during, and after the celebration.
